As Netflix completes two decades of Lagaan, Aamir Khan Productions and Ashutosh Gowariker will come together to celebrate this historic moment in Indian cinema through a celebratory reunion that will feature the team of Lagaan. It was the third Indian film to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language category. The hit film, which starred superstar Aamir Khan in the lead, failed to win international awards, but it certainly brought Indian cinema to the global stage.
Recalling attending the 74th Annual Academy Awards in 2002, Ashutosh Gowariker's wife Sunita shared old photos from the red carpet of the ceremony on her official Instagram account. The picture features lead actor Aamir Khan with ex-wife Reena Dutta, who was also the producer of the film. Ashutosh can also be seen posing with his partner Sunita.
